AUCKLAND LOSES TO HAWKE’S BAY

FIRST LOSS OF SEASON GOOD GOAL KICKING BY WISJINOWSKY (P.A.) NAPIER, September 26. Without the services of Allen and Scott, the Auckland backs failed to outplay Hawke’s Bay in the final representative match of the season. Bustling forward tactics and sound cover defence enabled Hawke’s Bay to win by 25 points to 11—Auckland’s first loss of- the season. Hawke’s Bay gained heart after B. Wishnowsky kicked four penalty goals in the first spell, from 35 to 50 yards out. When Wishnowsky left the field injured in the second spell, he was given an ovation’ greater than any accorded a player in Napier for some years. E. Smith, T. Reid, and R. Parker scored tries for Hawke’s Bay, and F. Chapman and P. Addis each converted a try. Auckland’s points came from a converted try by Boggs and two penalty goals by R. Sorenson. Six Hawke’s Bay players left the field with injuries—four in the last 15 minutes of the game.
