Forces Break Into Shantung Capital
DEFENDERS STILL RESISTING (Rec. 9 p.m.) NANKING, Sept. 25. The Chinese Communist forces smashed their way into the walled citv of Tsinan, capital of Shantung, through
its eastern gate, according to a communique from the Chinese Government National Defence Ministry. Air reconnaissance to-day found the Government troops still offering resistance in the. north-west and southwest corners of the city, and also on two hilltops outside the walled area. It is also stated that the part of the Government garrison still inside the city is returning a vigorous fire. |
