CHRISTCHURCH WOMAN NOVELIST
BOOK ACCEPTED BY LONDON PUBLISHER
A Christchurch woman, who writes only in her spare time, has had a novel accepted by a London publishing firm. She is Mrs Mavis Winder, of Opawa. By writing after hours in the fruit and confectionery shop in which she assists her husband. Mrs Winder has now completed her third book. All are romances with New Zealand settings. The title of the book has not yet been decided, and the date of publication is also uncertain, but the copyright has been bought by the publisher. The story is about a Christchurch typist who was enabled, through a request, to take up singing. Befo e her marriage. Mrs Winder was herself a typist for some years. She is also a trained singer. Mrs Winder’s second book is now on its way to her agent in England.
