WAR MATERIALS FROM CANADA

REPORTED INQUIRY BY SIR S. CRIPPS

(Rec. 11 p.m.) OTTAWA, Sept. 21. The British Chancellor of the Exchequer (Sir Stafford Cripps) has asked during his current talks with Canadian Cabinet Ministers for information about the types and quantities of strategic materials and finished goods, such as vehicles and armaments; which Canada would be able to ship to Britain on a long-term basis. This is stated by authoritative sources, which added that defence was one of the primary reasons for Sir Stafford Cripps’s visit. However, the discussions also concerned other goods and foodstuffs which Canada was now shipping to Britain.
