ROYAL VISIT

DETAILS WITHIN A WEEK

The detailed programme approved for the visit to Christchurch of the King, Queen, and Princess Margaret is expected to be known within a week. The Mayor (Mr E. H. Andrews) said yesterday that as the Prime Minister (Mr Fraser) would soon be leaving for the Empire Prime Ministers’ Conference in London, his announcement would probably be made within a few days. The committee handling preliminary arrangements for the Royal visit had been able to do little beycnd making general preparations, Mr Andrews said. Once the detailed programme was announced, he would convene a meeting to discuss all plans. This would involve the establishment of special sub-committees, each with experts, to implement individual functions in the programme.
