GAMING BILL
INTRODUCTION TO DAY
PROBABLE
INFORMATION GIVEN BY PRIME MINISTER
(P.A.) WELLINGTON, Sept 21. Before the House of Representatives rose this evening the Prime Minister (Mr Fraser) said a Gaming Bill had been prepared and, after a discussion with the Leader of the Opposition (Mr S. G. Holland), it had been agreed that it was no use having two discussions—one on the bill and one on the Gaming Commission’s report. It would be quite competent and proper to discuss the report during the second reading of the bill, which the Minister of Internal Affairs (Mr W. E. Parry) was ready to introduce to-morrow. The bill could be discussed either to-morrow night or Thursday. There was, however, the question of the remaining classes of Estimates under his control that he wished to have passed by Friday if possible. He would confer with the Leader of the Opposition with a view to having those Estimates discussed to-morrow.
