ADDINGTON TRIALS

BONNY SCOTT IN FORM Bonny Scott provided the feature of the Canterbury Owners’ and Breeders’ Association’s trials at Addington yesterday. After taking the lead at the end cf a furlong, she carriea on to win the 3min 52sec class pace by a length from Ccngo Song, with Noia Scott in third place. Bonny Scott covered the mile and five furlongs in 3min 35sec, the last mile and a half in 3ipln 15 3rssec, the last halfmile in Imin 3sec.

Ah improving daughter of U. Scott ahd Ohinemutu, Bonny Scott, which finished third in the J. R. D. Johns Handicap at the. New Brighton Trotting Club’s meeting on September 11, should be prominent from the scratch mark in the Henry Mace Memorial Handicap at the same club’s meeting on Saturday. Congo Song, which was making his first appearance since racing at the Ashburton Trotting Club’s meeting on June 7, where he finished third to County Antrim and Navigate in the All Aged Stakes, should be improved by the outing. A high-class pacer, he must be conceded a good chance from the 24 yards mark in the Henry Mace Memorial Handicap at New Brighton on Saturday. Win for David Dryden

David Dryden, which was handicapped to give away starts of up to 60 yards, won the 3min 52sec class trot after more than doubling his handicap when he broke at the start.

Billy McElwyn, Jimmy Warton. and Sandy Duval all began well, and they were soon clear of Blackdale and David Dryden. Once he settled dowm to do his best work, David Dryden gradually overhauled the leaders, and after following Jimmy Warton into the straight he carried on to win in 3min 50sec. David Dryden covered the last mile and a half in 3min 19 4-ssec, the last half-mile in Imin 4 l-ssec.

The runner-up to Java in the Spring Handicap at the New Brighton Trotting Club's meeting on September 11, David Dryden must be conceded a good chance from the 72 yards mark in the H. F. Nicoll Handicap at the same club’s meeting this week. Solid Display

Trotting in her best style, Acclamation beat a useful field of pacers in the 3min 43secr class pace in 3min 36 3-ssec.

King Cobra and Dandy Grattan set- the pace from the start, and with half a mile to go they were followed by Worthy Dick, Herald, Mourne Snring, Premier Royal, Acclamation, and Palava. After improving her position to be handy at the entrance to the straight. Acclamation finished on well to win by a neck from Worthy Dick, with Herald a neck away in third place.

A consistent performer last season, Worthy Dick should prove hard to beat from the 12 yards mark in the Pacific Handicap at the New Brighton Trotting Club’s meeting on Saturday. Led All the Way

F. Holmes’s free-legged pacer, Direct Heir, was seen at his best when he led all the way in the 3min 48sec class pace. With six furlongs to go. Direct Heir was followed by Lucky Potts, Emily Volo. Golden Game, Lyceum, Best Globe, and Tudor Minstrel. Golden Game and Lyceum were hapdy at the entrance to the straight, but Direct Heir finished on well to win by a length and a half from Golden Game in 3min 35 3-ssec. Then came Lyceum, Emily Volo, Sunny Hall, and Lucky Potts. Tynhonlc in Form

Typhonic, a winner for Mr W. V. Flute last season, indicated that he is returning to his best form by his solid display to win the 3min 52sec class pace from AgriCpla and Pampero. Driven by A. M. Tapper. Typhonic took ♦he lead at the start, and with half the tourney covered he was leading from Royal Mint, Agricola, Pampero, Lustv Bingen, Sir Gamble. Locknit. and David’s Pride. Typhonic always appeared to be going easily over the concluding stages, and he carried on to win comfortably.

Agricola, a brother to Spring Fashion, appears to be settling down to race solidly for B. Lynskey. who Is now training him at Yaldhurst. He appeals as an early winner.

Royal Mint, which was well placed early, collapsed and died just after passing the winning post. Owned by Messrs R. Semple and A. Holmes. Royal Mint, which was a five-year-old gelding by Gold Bar from Refined, showed his best form last season, when he won the Metropolitan Stakes from Gold Nip at the New Zealand Metropolitan Trotting Club’s meeting on August 30. 3min 57sec Class Trot

After losing ground at the start of thefirst division nf the 3min 57sec class trot, t.illian Mac showed a lot of speed once she was warmed up to take <he lead with six furlongs to go. Lillian Mac was followed by Lee Volo. Harmonist, and Wairiri Girl approaching the entrance to the straight, and in an interesting finish she held on to beat Harmonist by a length in 3min 51sec. Then came Lee Volo. We’riri Girl, and Scots Fusilier.

Sandyetta and Single Task, which are trained at Addington bv J. Young, finished in that order in the second division nf the 3min 57sec class trot. Driven bv J. McKay. Sardyetta took the lead from the start and vnth six furiongs to go she was followed by Single Task. Rowan McCoy, Encircle, Mosquito, and

Gallant Ruth. Sandyetta stuck to her gait in fine style when challenged by Single Task and she was a length clear at the finish. Two lengths away. Encircle was followed by Gallant Ruth. Maiden Pacers

Bonny Brogue, a sister to Lady Scott and Bonny Scott, gave an encouraging performance when, after taking the lead with five furlongs to go. she won the first division of the 2min 59sec class pace in 2min 52 4-ssec. Orthodox. Te Pura. and Dancing Light followed Bonny Brogue home.

Highland Belle proved much too good for the opposition in the second division, setting the pace and winning from J. D. Litten’s Dillon Hall—Belle Scott mare and Airborne in 2min 52 2-ssec.

Vicereine, one of L. C. Frost’s team at New Brighton, led all the way to win lhe third division from Victory Globe and Scott Wrack in 2min 49 2-ssec.

Driven by his trainer, J. V A. O’Brien, Centenary Bov finished on well to win the fourth division bv half a length from Sir John, in 2min 48 3-ssec. Heleli finished third with Golden Prince close up in fourth place. Three-year-olds

After accelerating quickly and opening up a gap of several lengths on his field. Bronze Gold lasted long enough to win the special event for three-year-olds by half a length from Sir Leonard with Star Rosa in third place.

A well-built son of Gold Bar and Ngarimu. Bronze Gold, which races in the interests of Mr G. Humphries, covered the mile and a quarter journey in 2min 53 3-ssec.
