NIZAM’S TROOPS MOBILISED
DISPUTE REFERRED TO SECURITY COUNCIL (Rec. 11 p.m.) KARACHI, Sept. 11. The Nizam of Hyderabad to-day telegraphed the Governor-General of India (Mr Kajagopalachari) that he had ordered the mobilisation of his forces, says the Madras correspondent of the Associated Press. The Nizam said he ‘‘threw the responsibility for grave consequences’ upon th-? Indian Government.'’ An Army spokesman quoted by Reuter’s Hyderabad correspondent said that Hyderabad. State had fully mobilised its military resources, and any invasion by India would be resisted. Large numbers of troops in lorries and armoured cars have left the city of Hyderabad for the south. Armed pickets have been placed at all essential installations, and troops are standing by in Hyderabad and other towns to quell internal disturbances. Tne Poorw correspondent of the British United Press says an officer attached to the staff of General Rajendra Singh, commander of the Indian Southern Army, denied as “complete nonsense” a report that Indian troops had invaded Hyderabad.
It was officially announced in Paris to-day that the Secretary-General of the United Nations (Mr Trygve Lie) had referred to the Security Council a letter from the Hyderabad Government asking that its dispute with India be referred to the International Court of Justice. The letter said that Hyderabad wanted to demonstrate its attachment to the cause of international justice, as well as to facilitate a peaceful solution on the basis of international law.
