EARTHQUAKE IN PACIFIC
CENTRE BETWEEN FIJI
AND SAMOA
(Ree. 7 p.mJ HONOLULU, gept g. A big earthquake between Fiji and Samoa was recorded at Honolulu by the- Coast and Geodetic Survey. Ute first »h° c k wa* recorded at 1.17 n.m. G.M.T., and shocks were continuing two hours later. The United Stat** Army said that there was no danger, but th* islands had been warned of the possibility of a tidal wave. A. Suva message say* that reports suggest that the centre of the osrthqusk* was probably Niuafoou, about halfway between Fiji and Samoa, where there was an eruption preceded by earthquakes in September, 19*g.
