POWER CUTS REMOVED

FULL SUPPLY OF ELECTRICITY DECISION IN M.E.D. AREA The restoration of full electricity services to the M.E.D. area was approved by the power emergency committee pi the City Council yesterday, after considering reports that the full allocation of power to which the area was entitled had not been used. The restrictions which will now be lifted are those limiting the use of electricity for neon signs and the heating of the Tepid Baths, a two-hour cut in water heating, and the limitation of shop lighting to half wattage. “The position is subject to review if we cannot keep within reasonable distance of the weekly allocation of units by the State Hydro-electric Department,” said Cr. L. G. Amos, chairman of the council’s electricity committee, last evening. “The latest report is that the consumption of power in the South Island‘is under the allocation, and the emergency committee has promptly reviewed the situation as it has done as circumstances have changed from time to time during the winter months.”
