RADIO PROGRAMMES
Sir, —“Moneysworth Please” has yet to prove that the National Broadcasting Service is catering for a minority. It is not. I permitted a few slight exaggerations in my previous letter; “Moneysworth Please” appears to think these need some whoppers in reply. Thai 3YA produces “nerve-grating noise” is a remarkable assertion, as most local talent, including the children’s hour, is presented by this station. interspersed of course, with continuous chords and classical conundrums. My thanks for the revelation concerning the placing of transmitters, bUt I was aware of the reason. For Mr Sharp, I regret I must still record a poor opinion of local talent as such. There are some fine artists in the country, but it seems they must still go overseas, not to gain prestige but to nave the best tuition and to earn a living.—Yours, etc., P. TIMINGS. September 1, 1948.
