LYTTELTON GRAB DREDGE
PREPARATION EOR TR4P TO WANGANUI The grab dredge Te Whaka had been laid up for its annual overhaul and survey, and work was also proceeding on fitting the vessel out for a voyage to Wanganui, said the engineer (Mr A. J. Charman) in a report to a meeting of the Lyttelton Harbour Board yesterday. The hull and machinery were in good order, continued Mr Charman, and the dredge had been wired fdr electric light. One two-berth cabin and two three-berth cabins had been built forward to accomodate the crew. After the meeting, Mr Charman explained to “The Press” that negotia-
tions for chartering the dredge had been conducted with the Wanganui Harbour Board, which wanted the vessel for dredging berthages at Castlecliff. The dredge would probably be ready to sail for Wanganui in about 10 days, arid would be away for two or three months. For the voyage, she would carry a crew of 16, but while working at Castlecliff she would be mannea by eight hands. The master of the dredge would be Captain R. Inga.
