FARM MACHINERY TESTING
(P.A.) WELLINGTON, September 1. Proposals for the establishment of a farm machinery testing station in Canterbury were discussed by the Minister of Agriculture (Mr E. L. Cullen), replying to a question from Mr W. H. Gillespie (Opposition, Hurunui) in the House of Representatives to-day. He said that during the year discussions had taken place between representatives of interested Government departments the School of Agriculture, manufacturers, importers. and Federated Farmers on proposals for the establishment of a testing station. “No final decision has been reached on either the site of such a testing station or the scone of the work it would undertake.” said Mr Cullen. “In the meantime, and until agreement is reached on these points I have been considering certain proposal*: for the establishment of a small machinery investigational section on mv department’s irrigation research farm at Winchmore to provide the necessary workshop facilities for the farm machinery section of the extension division. but these proposals do not envisage the setting tin of a testing «t.®non until general agreement is reached on the site, administration, I and the scope of the work.” |
