ROYAL TOUR OF AUSTRALIA
ITINERARY ANNOUNCED CANBERRA, August 25. The Prime Minister (Mr Chifley) has announced the full itinerary of the Australian tour by the King and Queen and Princess Margaret. The tour will last 68 days, and will begin in Sydney on April 4. The Royal party will spend 14J days in New South wales and three in Canberra before travelling to Brisbane by train on April 21. After visiting the Barrier Reef, the Royal party will travel by H.M.S. Vanguard to Tasmania. which it will tour from May 5 to May 9. before appearing in Melbourne on May 11. Adelaide will be reached on May 26, and the King will fly to Kalgoorlie and Perth on June 4. The King and Queen will make a farewell broadcast from Perth on June 10, and will leave the Commonwealth after embarking in the Vanguard at Fremantle on June 11. Commenting on the Royal itinerary, the Premier of Victoria (Mr T. T. Hollway) said that though some towns and organfcations would be disappointed at their elimination from the curtailed programme, it was realised that thi& was done to relieve the Royal visitors of considerable strain. «
