The General Motors Corporation immediately announced a wage increase for 333,000 employees under a union agreement tied to the price index which was formerly known as the cost of living index. The principal food ptice increases were in meat, poultry, fish, dairy products and eggs. The current index figure is 131.9 per cent, of the August. 1939, figure.
