DISORDERLY BEHAVIOUR James Edward McKay, a foreman, aged 45, and Fay Hill, a domestic, aged 30, were charged with behaving in a disorderly manner in Cashel street on August T T I /„ S F ni ? r ." Se , rgeant J - J - Kearns said that Hill had had a good home but that she had been in trouble several times during her association with McKay, who had been the cause of her downfall. Convicting Hill and ordering her to come up for sentence within 12 months if called upon, the Magistrate said she was to get employment away from Christchurch.

SENTENCED TO BORSTAL “It is quite obvious that you are incapable of benefiting from probation,” said the Magistrate, sentencing Derek -Rendell Fisher, a truck driver, aged 22, to a term of two years in a Borstal institution. Fisher pleaded guilty to a charge of stealing £5 from B. L. Schimanski on August 20. REMANDED FOR SENTENCE , John Thomas Mortimer, a labourer, of Invercargill, aged 29, was remanded in custody until August 30, when he will appear for sentence on a charge of attempting to obtain £4O from the New Zealand Farmers’ Co-op. Association of Canterbury on August 20, by falsely representing that he had leased a property of 14 acres in Downing street from persons named Kennedy. Mortimer said he required the money to stock the place with two pedigree cows. He pleaded guilty. REMANDED Richard Hugh Champion, an accountant, aged 35, was remanded to appear on August 30. Champion was charged that with intent to defraud, he obtained from John Russell Vincent, clothing valued at £l2 3s lOd and 7s 2d in cash, by representing that a cheque drawn on the Bank of New Zealand and signed G. R. J. Jordan, for £l2 10s, was a good and valid order for that amount. Dale Frederick Adamson, a labourer, aged 20 (Mr H. W. Hunter), was remanded to appear on August 26 on a charge of breaking and entering the dwelling house of Jacob Bennett Vivian. 2 Foster street, Addington, on March 23, and stealing a watch and trousers valued at £l3 10s. Bail was allowed at £lOO in his own recognisance, with one surety of £lOO. » A remand until Thursday was 'granted at the request of counsel (Mr D. W. Russell) for Thomas Douglas, who was charged with obscene exposure. Mr Russell asked for a medical examination of Douglas to be made. Thomas Johnston Morrow, a machinist, was remanded till August 30 on bail on a charge of being intoxicated in charge of a motor-van on August 21. INTOXICATED IN CHARGE Charged with being found Intoxicated in charge of a motor-truck on August 20, Walter Leonard Parsons, a cartage contractor. aged 38, was fined £9. His driver’s licence was suspended for 12 months. Dr. A. L. Haslam, for the accused, said that his client, who had been financed by the Rehabilitation Department, had done well in the business and had paid off his loan. He would have to go out ot business if his licence was cancelled. Parsons was fined 20s for not having a cur- i rent driver’s licence.
