FIJIAN TEAM’S ITINERARY
N.Z. EXECUTIVE MEETING (P.A.) WELLINGTON, August 23. The Fijian Rugby team’s visit to New Zealand at the end of the season will be spread over three weeks, and will include five matches. This was decided at today’s meeting of the executive of the New Zealand Rugby Union after, an intimation from Fiji that it did not wish the players to be absent for more than three weeks. The proposed itinerary is-: ieave Fiji about September 27; October 2, v. Poverty Bay; October 6, v. Bay of Plenty; October 9, v. Auckland; October 13, v. King Country; October 16, v._ New Zealand Maoris, at Auckland; return to Fiji, October 18. In accordance with the wishes of the Fiji union, efforts are being made to get the services of a prominent Auckland coach for the team, which will have a few days in Auckland for special training before beginning its matches. The coach will also accompany the team on tour. The following referees were appointed: Otago v. Poverty Bay (Ranfurly Shield game), September 4, Mr R. Pratt (Buller): South Island Possibles v. Probables, at Christchurch, September 11, Mr T. Tsukigawa (Otago). „ , The New Zealand Railways Rugby Football Council advised that, though there were no known cases, it was prepared to instruct all railway Rugby clubs that no player who was under disqualification or suspension imposed by any Rugby ’union was to be permitted tt> play in railway Rugby games while under such disqualification or suspension.
