BIG ORDERS FOR PIPES
REQUIREMENTS FOR WORKS IN CHRISTCHURCH An order for 10,000 feet of 4-inch everite pipe from John Burns and Company, Ltd., has been placed by the works committee of the City Council. The pipe is due to arrive from Britain in the next two months and is required for works in hand. The order will amount to about £2500, the price having recently been increased by 10 per cent. # An order for 3090 feet oi 4-inch fibrolite pipe from James Hardie. Ltd., of Auckland, delivery to be in July, 1949, Jias also been placed. The price is to be advised before delivery and acceptance of the order. Another order has been placed for 1000 feet of 6-inch fibrolite cement asW&stos pipe. Required for future work m New Brighton and elsewhere. 1000 feet of 6-inch well pipe has been ordered from the manufacturer’s representatives, Stewart and Lloyd (New Zealand), Ltd. The price should be about £l2OO, but it will be obtained before the order is placed Authority has also been given to order another 5000 feet of 6-mch spun cast iron pipe, additional to the 5000 feet on order, to cover works in sight.
