CARS IMPORTED FROM U.K.

ADDITIONAL LICENCES WANTED From Our Own Reporter

WELLINGTON. August 22. “The British motor industry would greatly appreciate facilities for an increased shipment of motor-cars to New Zealand.” This statement is made in a cablegram received in Wellington yesterday from Mr Hamilton Brown, who is representative in New Zealand of the Society of. Motor Manufacturers, London, and who is now in England visiting his principals. “The immediate elject of the removal of the exchange on' 1948 motor-car shipments will be negligible, because of the exhaustion of most of the present import licences. The ultimate results will be favourable, provided that additional import licences are granted in accordance with the present healthy market trends and sterling balances,” Mr Brown said.
