FURNISHINGS STOLEN

HOUSE AT WOODEND ENTERED

A house belonging to Mr H. C. Steel, of Christchurch, at Beach road. Woodend, was visited by thieves some time last week and a quantity of house furnishings removed. The house, which is unoccupied except on the occasional visits by the owner and his family, is within half a mile of the beach. There is no sign of the doors or windows having been forced to gain admission, and on the grass no wheel-marks of a vehicle showed near the house, although the articles taken would more than have filled a motor-car.

Among the articles taken were a fireside chair, two pairs of double blankets, a bolster, a pillow, a carpet square (15 x 12 feet), a kapoc matress, a dozen bottles of beer, and 12 glasses.
