AUSTRALIAN TEAM
MINOR ASSOCIATIONS BEATEN (P.A.) TIMARU, August 22. The science and skill of the soccer played by the Australian team gave it an overwhelming advantage over the South Island minor associations, which were beaten by 11 goals to 0 at Timaru on Saturday. The positional play of the visitors gave them a monopoly of the ball and the forwards had a feast, the centre (F. Parsons) scoring four goals. The association’s half-back line too often kicked indiscriminately and the home forwards had to work for the ball. The defence and the cover defence of the Australians was more than adequate to keep their goal intact for Australia. The scorers were F. Parsons (4). J. Cunningham and A. Johns (two each), J. Marston, J. Hodge, and R. Hughes (one each). -
RESULTS IN OTHER CENTRES Wellington.—Marist 1, Railways 1; Seatoun 0, Diamond 0.
