HUNTLY MINES DISPUTE
STRIKERS TO MEET TODAY (P.A.) AUCKLAND, August 20. Developments are possible in the Huntly coal mines stoppage this weekend. Although a conjoined meeting of the men on strike to be held at Huntly to-morrow morning is' advertised “for the sole purpose of hearing a progress report on the MacDonald dispute,” it is understood that two members of the United Mineworkers’ National Council will address the meeting. Reports indicate that their only purpose will be to recommend the men to return to work, in keeping with the constitutionally-decided policy of both the Northern and United Miners’ Unions of referring disputes to bodies set up specifically to adjudicate upon them.
