WORKERS’ COUNCIL PROTESTS RESIGNATION OF PRIME MINISTER DEMANDED (Rec, 8 p.m.) TOKYO, August 4. The All-Japan Labour Union Liaison Council, representing 5,000,000 workers, to-day denounced the Japanese Government for banning strikes and collective bargaining by Government employees. The council demanded the resignation of the Prime Minister (Mr Ashida) and claimed that the strike ban marked the “plain efforts of capitalist groups to split the labour ranks and prevent the growth of labour unions.’’. BILL OF RIGHTS IN PERU SUSPENSION LIFTED (Rec. 9 p.m.) LIMA, August 4. The Council of Ministers has ended the suspension of Peru’s Bill of Rights. Virtual martial law was imposed on July 5 after the Government had put down an attempted insurrection of the army garrison of Juliaca in southeastern Peru.
