REPORTS OF ROMANCE DENIED

PRINCESS MARGARET AND FRIEND LONDON, August 4. Official quarters deprecate American and French newspaper reports suggesting a romance between Princess Margaret and the Marquess of Blandford, the 22-year-old heir of the Duke of Marlborough. The official comment on the reports said: “Princess Margaret has a wide circle of friends and the Marquess of Blandford is certainly one of them. There is nothing, however, to substantiate the reports.” Reuter points out that speculation on the likelihood of a Royal marriage is frequent and that it is not customary for denials to be issued. Princess Margaret spent the weekend at Blenheim Palace, the home of the parents of the Marquess of Blandford, and the Marquess of Blandford has been invited to stay at Balmoral when the Royal Family goes there in a few days.
