POLISH NOTE TO BRITAIN

TERMS PUBLISHED IN LONDON RELATIONS WITH RUSSIA; AID IN 1939 (Special Correspondent N.Z.P.A.) (Rec. 8.15 p.m.) LONDON, August 5. In a Note to Britain, the terms of which have just been published in London, the Polish Government says that Britain failed to assist Poland against the German invasion in 1939, and asks that Britain should not concern herself with the relationship between the Polish and Soviet Governments. The Note repeats Poland’s objections to the decisions reached by representatives of Britain, the United States, France, and the Benelux- countries on the future administration of Germany, and claims that this can be settled °nly by the Big Four. The Polish Note rejects the British assertion that the policy of the Soviet Government, supported by Poland, rendered the decisions made at the London six-Power conference unavoidable, and it complains that the administration of the British-American com* t>med zones in Germany is encouraging return of “representatives of renascent German revisionism” and clocking democratic development. Poland reasserts her right to be confuted about German problems, and • J;* 13 * her refusal to participate 51 the European Recovery Programme ooes not eqtitle the British Governtck T ignore th ese rights. Lne Note says: “Poland would be grateful if Britain, in connexion with European Recovery Programme, would be less concerned about the ? aint enance of good relations between ~ nd the Soviet, as to which the polish Government retains its exclui> e competence.” •vo«l erring to British statements about nts m *939, the Note says that “Briof Hitlerite Gerencouraged Hitler’s invasion of Poland, and it claims that while Poland ag?iT,e4 Co ?i? uctin g “ a lon ely struggle the overwhelming forces of effort; aggressor” she received no ctlVe aid from her ally, Britain.
