GOVERNMENT CONSIDERING SCHEME
A scheme was being considered tq, build homes for pensioners’ tions as war memorials to meet urgent needs in various cehtres in New Zealand, the Minister of Internal Affairs (Mr W. E. Parry) told members of a deputation from the Christchurch branch of the Pensioners’ Association which waited on him at Wanganui recently. This was reported at a meeting of the branch yesterday. Members who had applied for accommodation at Burnham were asked to check their names with the public relations officer to the Christchurch City Council (Mr T. H. Langford) as it was desirable to nrepare allocations as early as possible. It was announced that the promoters of the New Zealand Industries Fair would allow members of the association to attend the fair free of charge during the afternoons. Messrs A. Buchanan anefr R. Hall were elected life members of the branch. Mr C. E. Donaldson presided over an attendance of 200.
