PARLIAMENTARY DAY
(From Our Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON, July 23.
The House of Representatives this afternoon concluded a dull but hard working week. The Opposition put' forward its strongest team of speakers against the Harbours Amendment Bill. Mr A. Sutherland (Opposition. Hauraki) claimed that the only reason for the bill was that Labour candidates had been consistently defeated in local body elections for harbour boards. The debate was carried through until 5.30 p.m., and the last two speakers, Messrs J. A. Roy and T. P. Shand, kept the debate alive until the adjournment was taken.
At the end of the day the Minister of Finance (Mr W. Nash) said he thought it was possible that the Budget would be broadcast on August 12. Mr Nash also said that the Prime Minister (Mr P. Fraser) was still suffering from a severe cold, but hoped to be back on Tuesday. The only other feature of the dav was the further discussion of the Tuberculosis Bill, which, after its second reading, was passed to the health committee.
