SENIOR OFFICER DISMISSED
OFFICE OF BUILDING CONTROLLER OFFICIAL INQUIRY HELD IN AUCKLAND (P.A.) AUCKLAND, July 18. An official inquiry held last week into the administration of the Building Controller’s office in Auckland has resulted in the dismissal of one senior officer. Another officer was dismissed before the inquiry began. Investigations are continuing. Answering inquiries from the “New Zealand Herald,” the chairman of the Public Service Commission, Mr R. M. Campbell, said in Wellington to-night that it was a fact that there had been administrative irregularities in the Building Controller’s office in Auckland. Mr Campbell said these irregularities had been discovered as a result of an inquiry conducted by two representatives of the commission and one representative of the Ministry of Works. As a result of the inquiries, said Mr Campbell, arrangements had been made for the future administration of the office. It had been decided that Mr K. Mclntyre, previously with the Public Trustee’s office in Auckland, would be temporarily in charge of the Building Controller’s office in the city as from to-morrow. Mr Campbell added that inquiries were still proceeding before two as-sistant-Public Service Commissioners, Mr C. G. S. Ellis, of Auckland, and Mr J. K. Hunn. of Christchurch, and one representative of the Ministry of Works, Mr J. Moore. Inquiries were limited to the Auckland office.
