CONTROL OF ATOM BOMB

SCIENTISTS’ VIEWS (Rec. 11.30 p.m.) LONDON, July 16. The council of the Atomic Scientists’ Association to-day issued a statement saying that it saw no hope of an early agreement about the atomic bomb and other weapons of mass destruction. The council said it believed that a solution could be sought only through the constant promotion of all measures designed to make war less likely and ’ to reach a settlement between east and west. The council did not believe that any 1 solution tolerable to the. British people ■ and Western Europe could be obtained ; through the dominance of one side over the other, and advocated the im- ’ provement of contacts between Eastern European and Western European and American scientists. .
