NOMINATIONS FOR MAYORALTY - Nominations for the mayoralty of Lyttelton closed yesterday. There were two nominations, those of Messrs F. G. Briggs and F. h. Heal. The poll will be taken on August 3. Theft of Overcoat Jimmy Qale, a Fijian member of the crew of the overseas ship Salamaua, pleaded guilty in the Magistrate’s Court at Lyttelton yesterday, before Messrs W. T. Lester and T. A. Mahar. Justices of the Peace, tn stealing an overcoat from the seamen’s Institute. Qale said he was nrunk when he took the coat. Some of ms shipmates had taken the coat from S® and had returned it to the institute, was convicted and fined £5.
