MINERS LOSE £26,000 IN WAGES
RESULT OF STRIKE AT STATE COLLIERIES From Our Own Reporter GREYMOUTH, July 14. By the end of this week the Runanga State miners will have lost 20 working days and about £26.000 in wages, while the production loss will be about 16,000 tons of coal. These losses result from the strike at the Strongman and Liverpool mines. The president of the Runanga State Miners’ Union (Mr G. E.. English), and a member of the executive, Mr J. Harringtoa, are visiting Wellington as a deputation. They hope to discuss the question of the strike with the Minister of Mines (Mr A. McLagan) and the mining controller (Mr C. H. Benney). The superintendent of the State mines, Mr C. J. Strongman, is also visiting Wellington in connexion with the strike.
