STATE HOUSING ALLOCATION

NORTH ISLAND DEMAND MUCH HEAVIER (From Our Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON, July 14. “The demand for all State houses was roughly four in the North Island to one in the south, and so a similar proportion in allocations could reasonably be expected,” said the Minister of Rehabilitation (Mr C. F. Skinner) replying to a question from Mr J. R. Hanan (Opposition, Invercargill) in the House of Representatives to-day. - Mr Skinner said that State house allocation for returned servicemen was so far 3.8 to 1 in favour of the North Island and present applications were in proportion of 3.5 to 1. In civilian applications the ratio of applications was more than four to one.
