OFFICIAL FORECASTS "The Press” Special Service WELLINGTON, July 14. The weather forecast for Canterbury Issued at 9 p.m. by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, and dealing with the 20 hours following the time of issue, is as follows: There are deep depressions east of New Zealand, and an anti-cyclone over south-east Australia. Forecast to 5 p.m.: moderate south-west winds, fresh in exposed coastal positions. Scattered showers at first, but weather scon improving and becoming fair, except in Banks Peninsula. Temperatures cold. WEST COAST The forecast for the West Coast of the South Island is:— Moderate to fresh south-west winds. A few scattered showers, especially in the north, but weather mainly fair. Temperatures cold. CHRISTCHURCH WEATHER The weather was fine and sunny yesterday, with a fresh north-east breeze. The maximum temperature was 59.4 degrees. The sky was clear at midnight, with a light westerly wind. The temperature was 42.6 degrees. The barometer, rising, registered 29.534 inches (1000.1 millibars).
