YOUNG MAN FOUND IN GIRL’S ROOM
THRASHING GIVEN BY FATHER (P.A.) WELLINGTON, July 14. A young student of music whose name was suppressed by order of the Court, was charged before Mr H. J. Thompson, S.M., to-day, with entering a girl’s bedroom at a house in a Wellington suburb last night without lawful excuse. Sub-Inspector R. Thompson, who prosecuted, said it was “another Peeping Tom case” and added that the girl’s father had pursued and caught accused to whom he had administered a sound thrashing. Accused appeared in Court with a bandaged head. Mr A. J. Mazengarb, for the accused, said continuous study and indoor pursuits had accounted for the accused’s mental condition, which led to the offence. The accused had been considerably punished by the girl’s father. The Magistrate said that in view of the accused’s outstanding college record and his apparent blameless character, he would allow suppression of his name. He entered a conviction and imposed a fine of £4.
