PLANS FOR RISING IN SOUTH KOREA

DOCUMENT CONFISCATED

BY U.S. ARMY SEOUL, July 1. The United States Army to-day released a translation of a confiscated document detailing plans for a Communist uprising in South Korea early in July. The document, which was confiscated on May 20 by the Chonju district police from two members of the “Hying Fighter Group,” contains details of instruction to members in preparation for an uprising. Tlie document said: “Fighting will be started early in July, by which time all Russian troops will be withdrawn from North Korea. The People’s Army will then come down to South Korea and unite with the South Korea Labour Party. Weapons will be brought in and guerrilla groups will continue fighting until a unified Government is realised.” A high American source said that he did not doubt the authenticity of the document, but the Americans were not unduly disturbed.
