MISS JEAN BEGG HONOURED
A farewell dinner in honour of Miss Jean Begg, of Dunedin, was given on Friday at the Muriel Wilson Hostel in Kure by members of the Y.W.C.A. in Japan. It was attended by 100 guests who represented the 8.C.0.F. services. Brigadier A. R. Garrett, principal administrative officer of 8.C.0.F.. on behalf of General Robertson, Com-mander-in-Chief. expressed regret at Miss Begg’s departure and paid a glowing tribute to her 'magnificent welfare work during arid before the war. Miss Begg, who has •'been director of Y.W.C.A. welfare in Japan for more than a year, expects to leave for England shortly before returning to New Zealand. w -
