SURVEYORS IN MALAYA
VACANCIES FOR 15 YOUNG NEW ZEALANDERS (P.A) AUCKLAND, July 2. There are openings in Malaya for 15 young New Zealand surveyors at a commencing salary of £llOO a year. Mr R. B. Horner, chief surveyor m the Malayan Survey Service, who arrived in Auckland yesterday, has authority to seek them. He is returning to his home in New Plymouth on leave. Mr Horner said there were great prospects in surveying and land administration, although the future of Malaya was largely concerned with tin and rubber. Rubber planting had revived wonderfully, and in some districts production exceeded the prewar output. The Japanese during their occupation left rubber trees “unmilked” and they stored up strength.
