LAWLESSNESS IN MALAYA
ESTATE MANAGERS DEMAND ACTION (Rec. 7 p.m.) SINGAPORE, June 8. An emergency meeting of 100 Perak r.ubbe- estate managers at Ipoh to-day resolved to send a telegram to the High Commissioner for the Federation Of Malaya (Sir Edward Gent) saying that the managers are appalled at the present lawlessness and demanding that a state of emergency be declared, martial Jaw imposed, or other appropriate action taken immediately. The meeting called for the reimposition of the death penalty for carrying arms and blamed the weakness of the civil government lor “a deplorable situation.”
