N.Z. INDUSTRIAL TROUBLES
COMMUNISTS BLAMED BY MR WALSH
(P.A.) AUCKLAND, June 9. New Zealand’s Aid to Britain campaign was being sabotaged by Communists as part of a general conspiracy. according to a circular to members of the Federated Seamen’s Union of New Zealand, signed by the president (Mr F. P. Walsh) and other executive officers of the union.
“Realising that the workers of New Zealand would never knowingly tolerate such a policy, Communists dare not come out into the open with it,” the circular states. “They hope instead, by creating constant industrial turmoil, to destroy our Labour Government, wreck our country’s economy, and thus check the production and dispatch of food supplies for Britain.’’
