LINCOLN COLLEGE SPORTS J. T. HALL BREAKS FOUR RECORDS The Canterbury Agricultural College annual athletic sports meeting was held on Saturday in drizzling rain, which commenced at 11 a.m. and became heavier later in the day. A team of runners from the Canterbury university Club had its final trial before the Easter tournament in racing against the Agricultural College men, and although they won the 100 yards, 220 yards, 440 yards, 880 yards, mile, long jump and shot put, they were not regarded as competitors for the championsnips. J. T. Hall, who established four new records, scored 23 championship points, M. D. Dawson 20 points, and E. L. PROMISING RUNNERS compete The St. Andrew’s College annual athletic sports were held at the College grounds on Saturday. The weather was cold, and the rain Which fell during the afternoon made it advisable to postpone all except running eVents until some time this week. The track was in good order, but much slower than on some previous occasions and the times were not fast. The meeting was marked by good even performance in senior, intermediate, and junior grades, and showed that St. Andrew’s College will have competitors right up to standard to call on for the next few years. D. A. Ferguson won the hundred yards sprint in llsec. The 220 yards produced a very prom'sing young ruhner in G. A. Shuster, whose time, 23 3-ssec, was little outside the record of 23sec, established by N. A. Armstrong in 1937. A. Taylor won the 220 yards junior championship iri 24 4-ssec, as against the college record of 25 l-ssec made by K. C. Cutton in 1940. A following wind assisted the runners, and the time was hot allowed as a record.
