MANCHESTER UNITY
NORTH CANTERBURY DISTRICT To arrest the decline in membership, a district membership committee had been set up, consisting of representatives of various lodges, together with the management committee, to examine the position from all angles and promote a drive for new members, said the District Grand Master (Bro. C. J. Holmes) at the annual district conference yesterday of the North Canterbury District M.U., 1.0.0. F. “We have the organisation to cope with a large increase in numbers, our benefits are attractive enough to anyone who cares to make comparisons with other organisations of a comparative type, but we do not seem to be achieving the results we should,” he added. The following officers were elected: District Grand Master, Bro. R. H. Price; District Deputy Grand Master, Bro. E. V. Green; district treasurer, Ero. E. B. Harris; committee of management, Sister Hilda B. Gourlay and Brothers G. F. Lightfoot, J.’ McGuinness, and M. J. Paulger; auditor, Bro. K S. Allott.
