TRAINING CENTRES FOR CRIPPLES
USE OF SERVICEMEN’S ESTABLISHMENTS
The hope that when disabled servicemen’s training centres were no longer required for war cases they would be converted for the assistance of cripples and other handicapped persons was expressed by Mr C. Meachen, secretary of the New Zealand Crippled Children Society, at a meeting of welfare workers held yesterday morning. The Government had indicated that sympathetic consideration would be given to the proposal, he said Dr, Earl Carlson, the American spastic paralysis specialist, addressed the meeting on facilities for instructing handicapped persons and principles successfully applied in treating spastics. His remarks were on the lines of his talks to other groups in Christchurch this week.
