PORT OF GREYMOUTH CONGESTED

EFFECT OF CLOSING OF WESTPORT HARBOUR From Our Own Reporter GREYMOUTH, March 18. The port of Greymouth was congested to-day because of the virtual closing of the port of Westport. There were five vessels in port at Greymouth, three of which were Idle for various reasons.

Two of the colliers, the Kiwitea and the Kaimiro, loaded with coal ready for departure, have been delayed because of trouble with their crews. In the case of the Kiwitea one man is now in prison, having been convicted £or assault on a ship’s officer. Both vessels, however, sailed late this afternoon with coal for Auckland. The Kakapo, the Kartigi, and the Karepo are the other vessels in port.
