CRICKET

MATCH BETWEEN COLTS’ TEAMS

CANTERBURY TO PLAY HUTT VALLEY

The Canterbury colts team will begin its second last match of the season tomorrow wheh it will meet the Hutt.Valley colts at Lancaster Park. The Canterbury team has played excellent cricket throughout a heavy season, and the game should be a good and closely-contested one. Among the best known of the local players are I. B. Cromb, P. O’Malley, J. Reece, and D. O’Malley. D. O’Malley replaces M. B. Poore, who was not available. . • Included in the visiting team are J. Reid, the North Island representative, who scored 211 in an earlier match against Canterbury colts, R. Marvelly, a promising slow left-hander, and N. Nightingale, a good right-hand batsman. Particular Interest will be taken in the form of the captain, K. C. James, a former New Zealand representative wicket-keeper. James is regarded by many competent critics as being the best wicket-keeper in New Zealand, and his display will be watched closely. ■ The match is regarded as perhaps the most important of the season for the Canterbury colts. A full score-board will be used. The game will end on Saturday.
