Mr Maurice Costelo, a New Zealand dancer who has been in London and Europe for seven years, and appeared with the Ballet Russe, left New York yesterday for San Francisco, and will sail for New Zealand on March 23. He intends to make a dance tour of New Zealand and will also visit his Barents in Oamaru.—New York, March 6.

Mr W. S. Mac Gibbon was appointed the council’s representative to the New Zealand Patriotic Fund Board, at a meeting of the Canterbury Provincial Patriotic Council yesterday. A motion of thanks to the former chairman (Mr M. E. Lyons) and other retiring members was carried on the motion of the chairman (Mr J. N. Clarke) at a meeting of the Christchurch Metropolitan Milk Board yesterday.

Mr H. G. Kilpatrick, of Christchurch, president of the New Zealand Freezing Workers’ Union for two years, was defeated at the poll for the presidency by Mr S. Giles, secretary of the Wellington. Nelson, Marlborough and Taranaki branch of the union.
