AGRICULTURAL LEGISLATION
Sir,—New Zealand is not prospering with its farm lands. The first line of defence in this or any country is agriculture. Mr E. B. E. Taylor, chairman of the Canterbury division of the National Party, has no hope of combating Communism unless he realises this fact. The Milk Act passed during the war period could not have been possible without agreement between the leader of the National Party and the Prime Minister. The passing of the Dairy Products Marketing Commission could only be possible by agreement with the Minister of Agriculture and Mr S. G. Holland. The purchase of United Dairies by the Milk Marketing Division is only made possible by the Minister of Hcalth.having the support of the National Party members of Parliament. Yet Mr Taylor, in his capacity as chairman, allows supporters of the party to be committed to something possibly worse than Communism.—Yours, etc., H. BLISS. March 10, 1948. [Mr E. B. E. Taylor, chairman of the Canterbury division of the National Party, said he had at present no comment to make on this letter.]
