FATE OF YEMEN’S KING
ACCOUNT BY CAIRO JOURNALIST CAIRO, February 23. A correspondent of the Cairo newspaper, “Al Ahram,” who is accompanying the Arab League’s fact-find-ing commission to Yemen, says that shots fired from a car which drew level while the Royal car was touring the suburbs of Sana, the capital, killed King Yehia. his grandson, the prime minister, and two other occupants. The King’s three sons, on hearing the news, rushed to the Palace and tried to seize power. Followers of Abdullah Ibn Ahmed el Wazir, who had already been proclaimed king, opposed them, and disorder followed m which two of the princes were killed and the third wounded. Political and religious leaders then agreed to recognise Ibn Ahmed el Wazir. The correspondent adds that it is clear that the coup was planned some time before. Seif el Hak Ibrahim, another of King Yehia’s sons, was the chief plotter. In an interview at Cairo, the Yemen Minister of Communications said that King Yehia'was not assassinated. He was 85 years old and died a natural death. . x x ’. Two sons tried to get at their father’s property, estimated at £7.000,000. They were arrested, and were shot and killed in trying to escape. He added that the new ruler seemed to be prepared to open the country to the outside world.

(Rec. 7 p.m.) GEORGETOWN, Feb. 23. The match between the M.C.C. and. British Guiana was drawn. M.C.C. m their second innings made 196 for six declared (Hutton jiot out 62; Trim six wickets for 36). British Guiana in their second innings lost one wicket for 76.
