SCHOLARSHIPS AWARDED

ANNOUNCEMENT BY N.Z. UNIVERSITY

(P.A.. WELLINGTON, Feb. 16. The University of New Zealand announces the award of the following travelling scholarships, special travelling scholarships for former servicemen, and special senior scholarships for former servicemen:—

Post-graduate scholarships in arts: B. I. Hayman (Auckland University College); Betty M. Spinley (Victoria University College); M. Harwood (Auckland University College).. Post-graduate scholarships in science: F. O. Hall (Victoria University College)- D. S. Coombs (Otago University). Should one or both of the above be awarded an 1851 Science Research Scholarship or a Royal Institution Scholarship, the University of New Zealand may award further postgraduate scholarships in science. Post-graduate scholarship in engineering: G. C. Entrican (Canterbury University College). Post-graduate scholarship in commerce: G. D. Battersby (Canterbury University College). Post-graduate scholarship in law: D. P. O’Connell (Auckland University College). Carnegie Fellowships in Education. —Nominations made by the University of New Zealand for the present year are R. F. McLay (Otago University and Canterbury University College) and W. F. H. Sutton (Canterbury University College). British Council Scholarships.—A number of nominations have been forwarded to London, where the final selection will be ihade by a committee of the council.

Scholarships awarded by the Senate Executive. —Travelling scholarship in dentistry: R. Valentine (Otago University). Travelling scholarship in medicine: Helen R. Young (Otago University). Senior scholarship in medicine: J. D. K. North (Otago University). Former Servicemen’s Senior Scholarships.—English: S. G. Carter (Auckland University College); P. R. Earle (Victoria University College). History: B. F. Bolt (Auckland University College); A. F. Campbell (Victoria University College). Education: A. G. Gunn (Victoria University College). Philosophy: G. S. Parsonson (Otago University). Chemistry: P. C. M. Nottingham (Canterbury University College); L. C. Vining (Auckland University College). Property and contract: H. J.
