NUFFIELD AWARD

NEW ZEALAND DOCTOR TO STUDY AT OXFORD (P.A.) NELSON, January 13. Dr. N. P. Markham, who is making a special study -jf pathology, has been granted an award under an endowment made by Lord Nuffield. It is tenable for 1948 and 1949, at the Oxford University Medical School, and the Radcliff Infirmary. Oxford. The appointment is under the direction of Sir Howard Florey, co-discoverer of penicillin, who delivered the Cawthron lecture in 1945. The person appointed is required to serve in New Zealand for five years in a teaching and/or research capacity. . Dr. Markham will go to England early in March in the Akaroa. He will be accompanied by Mrs Markham and their son. The son of Mr and Mrs A. Markham (Oamaru), Dr. Markham was educated at the Waitaki Boys’ High School. He gained his medical degree at the Otago Medical School.
