WAIKOUAITI MEETING

The Walkouaiti Racing Club will hold its annual meeting at Waikouaiti to-mor-row. A popular holiday fixture, the meeting has drawn handy-sized fields which should produce some good racing. Considerable alterations have been made to the course in the last year and it should be in good order. Lord Elgin, winner of the cup last year, is again likely to be favourite. He needed a race when he contested the Dunedin Cup and showed improvement when he ran third in the Dunedin Jockey Club Handicap last Saturday. He is likely to show further improvement, and on the turning course may be prominent throughout. Lexia has shown good class form’ up to a mile, but in a solidly run race the extra two furlongs may trouble him. The following horses may be favoured: Noon.—Trial Plate: Kinlass. Nadir Shah, Milly Mandy. 12.40 p.m.—Domain Trot: Uranium, Soviet Star, Sandy's Comet. 1.30 p.m.—Cornaga High-weight Handicap: Good Cast, Hansel, Altruist. 2.15 p.m.—Waikouaiti Cup: Lord Elgin. Authentic, Double Cross. „ 2.55 p.m.—Bray Hack Handicap: Front Page, Night Owl, Repudiate. 3.40 p.m.—New Year Trot: Baadin. Knocknagree, Uranium. 4.30 p.m.—Toomey Memorial Handicap: Whitley, Gold Song, Sanskrit. 5.15 p.m.—Hawksbury Hack Handicap: Beechwood, Shere Khan, Rahine.
